I Give You Thanks ~ By: Marie Williams

I Give You Thanks

By: Marie Williams

For harvest moon
And leaves of gold
For autumn beauty
I behold
I give You thanks

For dreams fulfilled
For peace and hope
Abundant grace
You've bestowed
I give You thanks

For gentle rains
For sunny days
For misty mornings
For fields of hay
I give You thanks

For answered pray
And tears You wiped
For restful sleep
All through the night
I give You thanks

For seeds to sow
And open doors
For all of these
And so much more
I give You thanks

Nothing But Leaves

Nothing But Leaves

Nothing but leaves; the spirit grieves
Over a wasted life;
Sin committed while conscience slept,
Promises made but never kept,
Hatred, battle, and strife;
Nothing but leaves!

Nothing but leaves; no garnered sheaves
Of life’s fair, ripened grain;
Words, idle words, for earnest deeds;
We sow our seeds, —lo! tares and weeds;
We reap, with toil and pain,
Nothing but leaves!

Nothing but leaves; memory weaves
No veil to screen the past:
As we retrace our weary way,
Counting each lost and misspent day,
We find, sadly, at last,
Nothing but leaves!

And shall we meet the Master so,
Bearing our withered leaves?
The Saviour looks for perfect fruit;
We stand before him, humbled, mute;
Waiting the words he breathes, —
Nothing but leaves?

Nature's Songs ~ By: Eva May Young

Nature's Songs

~ Eva May Young ~

Who can watch a sunset,
In the western sky...
Wrapping the clouds in a crimsom robe,
And not breathe a happy sigh?

Where can I hear the morning song,
Of the bluebird's welcoming trill...
And not thank our Holy Father,
As He reigns over valley and hill?

Or watch the brown beaver toil,
From dawn to the end of the day...
building indescribable dams,
That slows a farmers way?

Or out in the dusty desert,
Hear a coyote wail at night...
Or hear the mighty roll of thunder,
As lightning flashes into sight?

And then there comes a rainbow,
pleasing to a human eye...
As it's muted colors,
stretch across a cloud-darkened sky!

Can man make a blazing sunrise,
or make a silver river flow...
Or hang a pale moon in the sky,
or trigger the wind to blow?

Only our faithful Holy Father,
with his all-knowing power...
Can make such awesome miracles,
as a meadow full of flowers.

Hear the songs of Autumn,
trailing on a gusty breeze...
midst showers of golden leaves,
Falling from sturdy trees...

Bow down to our great Creator,
Praise Him night and day...
For all His love and precious gifts,
Of nature's sweetest bouquets.

It gives me a warm feeling in my heart to write poetry. I am a "Golden Ager" shut-in and writing keeps my mind busy with something I've done ever since I was a child, and it's my way of sharing our LORD with who ever comes to visit. Thanks for reading my poetry - I'd love to hear your comments. May God richly bless you. Send emails to: EvaYoung @ SkyWriting.Net

You Never Know ~ By: J M McIntosh

You Never Know

By:  J M McIntosh

You never know WHO
Is listening to what you say;
But His Word won’t return void,
If you’ll share it along the way.
You never know WHAT
The Lord has planned for you;
But if you will listen for His voice,
He will tell you what to do.
You never know WHEN
You’ll be asked to share your faith;
But He will make you ready
If you’ll study and pray.
You never know WHERE
You’ll be asked to go for Him;
But He will go there with you,
And bring you back again.
You may not know HOW
To accomplish what He asks;
But He will give you wisdom
To help you with the task.
You may never know WHY
He chooses such as you;
But the fields are ripe for harvest,
And the laborers are few.

Being a Christian Is Like Being A Pumpkin

Being a Christian Is Like Being A Pumpkin

A lady recently asked her co-worker what it was like to be a Christian?
The lady replied, “It’s like being a pumpkin: God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off you may have gotten from the other pumpkins. Then he cuts the top off and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc., then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.”
This message was passed on to me from another pumpkin that was picked from the patch. Share this with others including those who may still be in the pumpkin patch.

O Harvest Beautiful

Oh Harvest Beautiful

By: Susan Y Nikitenko
August 31st, 2011

O harvest beautiful;
Our works reward.
The Fruit of our labor;
Blessed by our Lord.

O harvest beautiful;
Colors of fall.
All the little children;
Colors of all.

O harvest beautiful;
Jesus gathers you.
Into His loving arms;
To rescue you.

I Forgot To Smile

I Forgot to Smile
Susan Y Nikitenko
September 2010

I was feeling down today;
And I forgot to smile.
There's so much to smile about;
even through a trial.

Jesus loves each child dearly;
He hears our faintest cry.
And when I sing a song to Him;
His presence satisfies.

A harvest moon peeks out in darkness;
Revealing Summers end.
God's voice whispers child I love you;
In my heart I hear Him.

Reddish leaves are floating down;
Like blessings from the trees.
The pumpkins brighten ev'ry bend;
Autumn winds cool the breeze.

How lovely Are His wonders.
How Amazing His Love.
How great His Salvation.
How precious His blood.

What do you know, I'm smiling now.
My heart has found some cheer.
It's always good to see the good.
And hold our Savior near.

Colors Of Blessing - By: Susan Y Nikitenko

Colors Of Blessing
By: Susan Y Nikitenko 2009
Revised 2010

Could the angels have special jobs;
Like painting leaves of fall?
Can’t mighty God do anything?
He has created all.

Perhaps angels spread forth their wings;
To paint the swirls of fall.
Upon the trees of mountain tops;
And on the forests tall.

A swish of orange, a splash of gold;
A whirl of autumn red.
Every creature great and small;
I’m sure would lift their head.

From tree to tree each color grows;
and spreads across the land.
A gift from God to be enjoyed;
Made by his perfect hand.

Each angel flying here and there;
Spreading colors of joy.
And when leaves flutter to the ground;
It makes a rainbow toy. - (A pile of leaves)

Children jumping, children laughing;
In the colorful mounds.
Up pops a smiling little face;
With all the fun-filled sounds.

And like a child I too will laugh;
I’ll jump right in with glee.
And enjoy these lovely blessings;
He’s given you and me.

Orange leaves of family laughter;
Red leaves a promise of grace.
Yellow a golden forever;
In the arms of God's embrace

I’m not too old to play in leaves;
Too old to have some fun.
I’ll roll around and giggle too;
     and I’ll have joy in God's Son.

For He fills my heart with laughter;
He is so good you see.
He’s painted this, a lovely world;
 It is inside of me.

Jumping daily in His presence;
A colorful array.
Jump into Joy, Jump into peace;
By trusting Him every day.

Jump happily, into kindness;
Jump with glee into love.
Be content and be hopeful;
Looking to Him above.

Leave a lasting essence of hope;
To all eyes watching you.
A rainbow of blessing awaits;
Come, jump into it too.

-I wrote this poem as a reaction to something else I read. I started thinking about my children when they were little. I was missing my small children because they were growing up.
I was thinking of having another child. I was also thinking about children who are in heaven. Years ago, someone had lost a baby and I was talking to her and God gave me something to say.
I told her, "I believe God gives babies special jobs in heaven." That was the first time I ever heard that.. out of my own mouth. I remembered that when I wrote this poem. God gives us joy through our sorrow..when we trust Him. He's our comforter. God's Son, is finding Jesus Christ... and teaching my children about Him. I was wanting the reader to get the picture of what I was talking about and the feeling that comes along with loving your children and playing with them.

Colors Of Blessing Article - By: Susan Y Nikitenko

Colors Of Blessing Article

By: Susan Y Nikitenko
July, 2010

Our Lord has a wonderful since of humor. God has blessed me with two beautiful daughters that like to goof off. When I have felt down or disappointed, they try to make me laugh. I have done the same for them in past years. My daughter threatened me one day and said... "Mom, if you don't straighten up I'm going to moon you." We'll the shock of it all made me laugh. I told her she'd better not or she'd be in trouble. Well, I felt down again a couple days ago. While we were in the car my girls and my Son Inlaw were threatening to moon me. I laughed and told them, "You'd better straighten up or I'm going to moon you." We were kidding of course, but we had a good laugh.

We went to the Massillon Tiger football game and while I was watching the game, I looked up at the dark sky and noticed a very dark cloud with a bright white edging. I watched as a harvest moon peeked out from behind a very black cloud. Slowly it arose to reveal a beautiful full bright moon. It looked bigger than normal. I started laughing hysterically. As I realized, I had just been mooned. I could hear God whisper to my heart. "I heard what you said, and I'm going to moon you." God always has the best medicine. He does fill my heart with laughter.

Tonight I brought a fall poem I'd like to share with you.
I wrote this poem after reading a devotion that touched my heart. God
painted this picture within my mind as I wrote it down in tears.
I remembered my children when they were little. I could hear their child like laughs and see their little face's smiling. I even saw the little smiling face of Jackson Grace a little boy that was part of our lives for almost five years and as I write this, I think of Madie His little sister. I'm sure she'd love playing in the leaves here in Ohio one day. I felt sad and missed those times. I wanted to hold them and play with them.

I try to turn my poetry into something that will exemplify Christ. In this poem, think of each leaf as a blessing. One leaf could be forgiveness, another leaf love, one leaf joy and another peace, the list goes on as to the many blessings God bestows upon His children. We have choices in life and I've made my share of bad ones, but I've made good choices too. Many sad times turn into joyful times simply by turning to Christ and focusing on His goodness and His hope. Peace comes along when our mind is fixed upon Him. It makes me laugh to see myself sitting in a pile of colorful blessings My family, my home, a free nation, salvation through Christ and God's forever love for me.

Yes, life sometimes is painful and disappointing. We must keep going, keep trusting and reflecting upon His blessings. Oh, how
good He is through both good times and bad. You know the old saying.... If life gives you lemons make lemonade. You know what I think, If life gives you lemons make lemon cake.

I was thinking today of the many blessings America has now and in days gone by. I know we must get angry about some things in a controlled Godly fashion of course, or our country would be in bigger trouble, but we must not forget to Praise God.

I believe sin will bring down a nation, a family, a church and a life. I believe sin will rob us of God's blessings. I'm for some changes in America, but some changes are not good ones. Any change that goes against scripture or twist scripture to make sin look acceptable to God is not a good one.

Yes we must move on to the future but we cannot forget the past. We cannot forget God. We cannot let sin be the downfall of this nation. We must praise, We must pray and turn back to a time of purity. Love of nation, love of family and love of God. Now when I say God, I mean the God of the Bible.

I know I'm a nobody..... but my God is a great big somebody........and He loves me and He loves you too. That makes us all a somebody.

The Bible teaches us to encourage ourselves in the Lord. What better way than to focus on all the bounty of God's blessings.

1Samuel 30:6b David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Take time to laugh with your spouse, take time to listen and play with your children, Forgive others, take hold of each blessing and just praise God. Don't forget to be thankful for our nation because we could lose her tomorrow.  Remember 9/11 ?

When We See The Harvest

When We See The Harvest

By: Susan Y Nikitenko
April 25th, 2011

A harvest of apples, a harvest of corn;
A harvest of plenty, an autumn adorned.
With bright colored leaves, a fall festive blend;
A wonderful time for families and friends .

A harvest of pumpkins, a harvest of grain;
A harvest of bounty, and cool autumn rains.
A big harvest moon- way up in the sky;
A harvest of blessing that God has supplied.

Be grateful, be humble, give thanks to the Lord;
He has showered His blessing here in our world.
But have we been faithful , and have we been true?
Have we put God first in all that we do?

A harvest that God sees is not food or crop;
Not pumpkins, or grain, not apples that drop.
But God see the harvest of souls needing Him;
A harvest of people who need saved from their sin.

A harvest of souls and A harvest of love;
A harvest of mercy from our Father above.
When we see the harvest, let's see through God's eyes;
And share with the nations the life He supplies.

Autumn Glory By: Margaret Peterson

Autumn Glory
By: Margaret Peterson

When leaves once budded in the spring
Turn to burnished gold
Or scarlet red or russet brown
In splendor to behold…

It’s then the world becomes for us
A magic place to stroll
Down winding little country lanes
That stirs our very soul.

Could autumn be a hint of Heaven
With streets of shining gold
And colors even fairer still
Than ours so bright and bold?

Perhaps God gives us autumn days
To lift our thoughts to Him
Who has the best in store for us
By contrast, fall is dim.

Soon Our Jesus Will Appear

By: Susan Y.Nikitenko
2009

Autumn is a fanciful season;
The leaves a colorful glow.
The squirrels gather for winter;
Before the cold winter’s snow.

Pumpkins brighten grandmas front porch;
Scarecrows cheer each passerby.
Harvest cooking fills the autumn air;
Apple tarts and pumpkin pie.

The wooly bear forecasts the weather;
The flowers of summer fade.
Bringing forth life in a tiny seed;
A miracle that is heaven made.

Memories and laughter fill my heart;
When I think about it all.
The yearly hayride until dark;
And all the fun in the Fall.

I am reminded this time of year;
We must gather and prepare.
Because harvest time is ending soon;
Soon our Jesus will appear.

And though fall is beautifully designed;
And holds a place in my heart.
There’s nothing like my home awaiting;
Filled with God’s celestial art.

If we fill our lives with goodness;
And plant God’s seeds ‘long the way.
When the autumn of life has ended;
They will bloom a sweet bouquet.
